Growing the Business

  • Rise entered the education market in China in early 2008.
  • The brand launched with just one partner center, experienced tremendous growth. By Dec 2012 it grew to 33 Rise owned centers and 102 franchise centers with over 37,000 students.
  • The brand developed a strong sense of loyalty among franchise owners, parents, and students (with a retention rate of over 70%), a strong testament to our methodology and unique content.

Successful Exit

  • Original investment of approx. US$6 million.
  • In 2013, founding shareholders successfully divested Rise China Business to Bain Capital.
  • Sold for US$145 million. Represents 14x multiple of 2012 reported EBITDA
  • RISE maintains an ongoing relationship with RISE China for operational reasons, though no longer directly invested in China
